IPhone Calculator…expresses how I work as well. Attention to detail. Some have said it can be seen as a curse. No, it is what separates the men from the boys. Observe the 3D effect that the producer could have left out, but would have left the photo so flat and boring. Tanke a look for yourself at http://www.catherinehall.net/blog/inspirational-quotes/iphone-calculator-providing-re.html
And to think, it was only this morning June 25th that as I strapped on my Lowepro backpack, I said to myself, “This tote is so well designed I hate to give it up. but I’ve got to get a larger tote…how am I gonna’ do that?” Voila, Catherine to the rescue…perhaps?

I really like this photo of YOURS!! It really stuck with me when I saw it a while ago. I love the wide angle as well as the colours and the emotion of the man getting the hug.

This photograph is my favorite of all time. I have it up on my wall because it is so inspiring. It is crazy that he was able to get this shot with the equipment that they used back then, it’s just insane. it inspires me to keep working hard no matter what. If he could get a shot like this with the equipment he used, then I don’t really have an excuse for not going out and creating my own great shots.
Thanks Catherine : )
Hope you’re having a wonderful day.
I never met my grandfather, because he died just a few years after taking this amazing color photo of my mom and grandmother in 1949.

These are two of the most precious people in the world to me, and here they are in their youth sharing a truly magical and wonderful moment surrounded by brilliant color and light so many years ago.
My grandfather’s award winning photographs are like a window in time. They have been a huge source of inspiration for me as a photographer.
Omgosh, I’ve been loving digging through your gallery, Catherine! I have my first wedding in two weeks, and you’ve been amazing source of inspiration! Love love love finding awesome women in the wedding photography business!
I recently came across this image, and I am in complete awe. In the past I have not been a fan of HDR imagery, but after looking at more and more of Trey Ratcliff’s work, I am completely inspired. I love this image as it brings in a different element than most HDR images. It adds life in my opinion. Very rarely do you see an animal, person etc in a well executed HDR, but I think this is a perfect example of that being capable. The image is name: “An Icelandic Horse in the Wild” by Trey Ratcliff and it can be found here: http://stuckincustoms.smugmug.com/Portfolio-The-Best/your-favorites/10668747_AuyBk#742619144_YTtWX-A-LB
Bryn thanks so much for sharing this exquisite image. It is everything you described and then some :)
WOW shawn; what an extraordinary image! You really do feel like your are on top of the clouds; what a wonderful, unusual experience. Bravo for capturing it so well!
I don’t know the title of this piece, but it’s by Joe Buissink and, this portrait of the bride getting ready makes me fall to pieces a little inside. Being an art history major, the echo of the bather in the painting with the bride and the way Joe has taken that curved light and incorporated it into the curve her gown, it blows me away. It’s sensual, it’s voyeuristic, it’s rich, it’s romantic, it’s lit like a Rembrandt, and it makes the bride seem like a continuation of the classic painting. It’s simply AMAZING to me. http://www.joebuissink.com/fineart/proofs/11-eleven.jpg
One of my absolute favorite moments ever, was waking up on Shuteye Ridge, in the backcountry of the Central Sierra between Yosemite and Kings Canyon, to one of the most amazing sights you could ever imagine. The clouds had filled in the valley below us and came right up to the very tip of rock where we were, teasing us to step out onto them. It was as if that 2000 foot valley below was gone and really we could just walk out onto this endless sea, or wait, I mean the clouds were there but of course we couldn’t walk on them; or wait, was it all just a dream…. Had The magic of Shuteye Ridge casts its spell over us and tricked us into believing we’d walked on water over an endless sea of clouds??? Did it really happen? Did we see the sun rise as we blissfully skipped and hopped upon the endless clouds, or were the back of eyelids playing tricks on us as we snoozed away….
