Catherine Hall | PDN PhotoPlus Conference 2010 from Catherine Hall on Vimeo.
In anticipation of the PDN PhotoPlus 2010 Conference, Catherine Hall Studios created a saucy, two-minute video to promote my forthcoming seminar. Want to learn how to become a household name in weddings and portraits… fast? This video offers a glimpse into how to make that happen! And, if you register for my class, Tweet @catherine_hall to enter a drawing for a fantastic gift!
Charlotte and Peter are a delightful, magnetic couple. Their megawatt smiles, sophisticated and subtle taste, and overflowing generosity blew me away. From the moment we met for our engagement session photos, I knew I was in love. From Charlotte’s fantastic, feathered hair piece to Peter’s periwinkle tie, these two threw a wedding celebration with maximum style and magnificent personality. Hosted at the jaw-dropping Thomas Fogarty Winery – a sumptuous, verdant estate with ravishing views of the Santa Cruz Mountains Apellation – a festive mood, fantastic attention-to-detail, and phenomenally good-hearted people comprised the day. Best of all, Charlotte and Peter hosted a charming traditional tea party.
Sigh, what loveliness – I’m forever in awe of Wedding Coordinator Jean Marks’ ability to somehow outdo herself every time! She is a delightful woman with a deft touch and distinctly unique sense of design. Jean creates celebrations that exceed expectations and dazzle attendees. Warm thanks to Jean, and everybody else, who contributed to this couple’s unforgettable wedding.

What do the Novogratzes have to do with CHS?

Cortney and Robert Novogratz are life partners cut from a rare, peculiar (dare-I-say enviable) cloth. They are hip, successful, madly in love, artistically savvy, and–oh, did I mention that they are the uber-cool, competent parents of seven, precocious mini-Novogratzes?
Hailing from the South, Cortney and Robert relocated to New York City to establish Sixx Design. With their seven children in tow (Sixx Design was named a few years before the seventh), the wife-and-husband home-design team buy and move into a house, renovate, and up-sell. They have transformed countless homes, apartments, flats, hotels, vacant lots, and even entire blocks (sometimes from the ground-up) in the city, upstate New York,
Massachusetts, and Brazil.
With tres fabu details like a sofa created by Iraqi architect Zaha Hadid or a rococo-styled chandelier from a Paris thrift-store, Cortney and Robert apply their alchemy to create bohemian-luxury, an irresistible combination that echoes the couple’s fine taste and artistic boldness.
What’s more, their family funhouse is the subject of a new, Bravo reality show, aptly titled 9 by Design.
Obviously, I’m totally sold on the Novogratz family–I mean, can I buy one of your houses, please?! That said, what in the world do they have to do with Catherine Hall Studios? Well, in a sense, everything. At least for Halloween weekend. I absolutely cannot wait to tell you what’s going down in a few weeks… I’m just not going to tell you, yet!

Thank You, Grant! | Sony Art of Storytelling

My friend, Grant, is a stellar guy–kind, endearing, and smart-as-a-whip! Not to mention generous.
Through the promotion of the Sony Art of Storytelling Photo Contest, he is not only supporting my Burning Man photography, but also the subject of one of my photos–our mutual friend, Erik, a muscled brunette whom I shot shirtless in the dawn of the Black Rock Desert. It was an epic, early-morning moment; the image bespeaks our sense of connection with one another and the vast, jejune wilderness.
That said, Grant is a dear man, and it’s truly an honor to receive his praise and support:
“My good friend and mentor Catherine Hall recently had two of her images selected as finalists in the Sony Art of Storytelling Photo contest at Digital Photo Magazine – and one of the photos is of my good friend Eric Hudock at Burning Man! Please consider checking out the finalists gallery and giving Catherine your vote! http://bit.ly/dvijS1“
