If you’ve never believed in fairytales, Ed and Chengos, with their winning personalities and fun-loving playfulness, will make you a believer. Chengos and Ed had a starry night-themed wedding at their alma mater, Stanford, tied to the fairy-tale concept of wishing upon stars and dreams coming true. Soft purple lighting made the room dreamy and enchanted, with stars slowly rotating around the ballroom – there was even a 3.5-foot tall Cinderella castle cake in the middle of the dance floor! I’ll let Chengos tell you about Ed’s lovely proposal:

“Ed took me on a walk up the Dish, an iconic Stanford landmark, where we go every year on our anniversary for spectacular views and great conversation. Afterward, he took me to Bella Vista, a romantic French restaurant nestled in the hills over Half Moon Bay. We went there for our first date, and had not been back there since (Ed knew very early on that I was the girl he would ask to marry, and he decided that he would take me back to that restaurant on the night he proposed to me)! After that, he led me to the Main Quad, my favorite place on Stanford campus, where he had our best Swingtime friends set up a circle of candles and rose petals. When I was in the middle of the circle, he told me to wish upon a star (a tradition of ours), and then our Swingtime friends started playing ‘When You Wish Upon a Star’ on a boombox hidden in the bushes. He then bent on one knee and asked me to marry him (with ring he custom-designed himself to look like binary stars, which are two stars that rotate around the same point forever), saying that I was his wish come true. The ring even had ‘When you wish upon a star…’ engraved inside. After I screamed ‘YES!’, our Swingtime friends set off small fireworks that Ed had bought to try and replicate the Disneyland fireworks! It was truly a dream come true :)
