Two of my photographs were chosen to be a part 100 Women In Photography International Turning Silver Online Exhibition as well as to be included in the upcoming limited edition 25th Anniversary book. I encourage you to take a look at the exhibition; there are some beautiful and really intelligent work – go women photographers!

Last year I was awarded an incredibly generous scholarship, the Jason K. Stern Travel Scholarship, from Julia Dean (www.juliadean.com). After much contemplation I decided to resist my usual urge to go off to some remote place in world and am going to work on a photo project in the US.
On September 10th, less then 24 hours after I return from France (eek), I will fly from New York to Knoxville, Tennessee and travel with camera in hand around the Appalachian countryside for one month. I have been in contact with a non – profit organization in Kentucky and am working on details of my next photo project.
The trip isn’t necessarily the best timing being that I had to turn down a lot of work during the busy wedding month of September. But, in order for me to stay passionate and inspired I need to maintain a healthy balance between my wedding and editorial photography. Both types of photography enrich my life in completely unique ways and I would get burnt out if one existed without the other. This image was part of my submission portfolio.

Each year Getty Images gives out 100,000 to five photographers (20,000) each and we just finished the judging session for the latest round. The final judging session took place at Getty Images, New York and was directed by Aidan Sullivan, VP of Photographer Relations and myself.
All submissions consisted of a project proposal and images to support the project. Our judges were Susan Smith, Deputy Director of Photography at National Geographic; Tony Chambers, Creative Director at Wallpaper Magazine; and Eliane Laffont, Editorial Director HFP. The judging session was incredibly inspiring and insightful. The winners and their projects will be announced at Visa Por in Perpignan, France this September.

Next week I will be traveling to France with Getty Images! Here are some pictures of the place where we are staying.
Over the last 17 years Visa pour l’Image, the International Photojournalism Festival in Perpignan, France has built on its international notoriety to become known as a premier European photojournalism exhibition that prides itself on originality. I have heard it is an incredibly inspiring festival and a great place to meet with some of the most brilliant people in the photo industry.
